Our
Story
Across Africa, young women are already leading in their communities, workplaces, organisations, and everyday lives. Yet many still lack access to the opportunities, networks, mentorship, and leadership development needed to fully realise their potential.
The African Women Leadership Fellowship (AWLF) was created from a simple but important belief: African women should not have to wait for permission to lead.
As a Pan-African initiative of the Precious Fountain Foundation, AWLF was established to create a space where young African women can learn, connect, grow, and confidently step into leadership. The Fellowship brings together women from different countries, backgrounds, and fields, creating a community where diverse experiences become a source of learning and strength.
What began as an investment in leadership development has grown into a community built around learning, mentorship, connection, visibility, and impact. Through leadership and skills sessions, mentorship, public speaking and advocacy development, fellows are equipped with practical tools to navigate leadership spaces and turn their ideas into meaningful action.
We believe leadership is more than a position or title. It is the courage to use your voice, the ability to influence positive change, and the willingness to create opportunities for others.
That is why AWLF goes beyond training. We create opportunities for fellows to apply what they learn, develop community-focused ideas, build meaningful relationships, and contribute to solutions to challenges within their communities.
Today, AWLF continues to bring together emerging women leaders from across Africa, nurturing a growing network of women who are learning from one another, supporting one another, and preparing to lead with courage, clarity, and purpose.
Our story is still being written with every woman who finds her voice, every idea that becomes action, and every community touched by the leadership of an African woman.
Our Vision
A future where African women are confident, visible, equipped, and actively shaping the future of the continent.
Our Mission
To develop and amplify the leadership capacity, voices, and impact of young African women by creating access to leadership education, mentorship, community, and opportunities for meaningful action.
